Hello!
As you all know today was our last day in sunny Florida. I am sure all of you are ready to see your children again, although I am not sure if they are ready to leave the beautiful weather!
Today we spent a the day in the fast lane at the Daytona Race! What fun the students had while calculating the cars top speeds and watching the race! They spent the time cheering for their favorite drivers and at the end of the race we got the privledge to meet with the drivers to get autographs and pictures. They even got to sit in the cars! Don't worry though, none of them were driving!
After a lot of math problems the students were ready to relax, so we headed to Daytona Beach! After catching some waves and having a sandcastle contest, it was time to focus on schoolwork again! We had a quick lesson on how to write a Haiku and then all the students wrote their own Haikus about the beach! What poets you all have! By the time we finished our poems the children were ready to call it a day! We headed back to the hotel and packed up our suitcases!

Hello Parents!

Today was quite the day! Before we reached our desired location, we had a quick science lesson. We learned all about the different planets and then we talked about Apollo 11, which landed on the moon. After the students felt comfortable with the material we learned we headed to the Kennedy Space Center. We had so much fun continuing our learning of space! There were so many neat things the Space Center had to offer and the students took many pictures! We spent the rest of the day touring the museum and talking about space. When we left the museum we went back to the hotel, where everyone headed to bed early. We have a fun packed day ahead of us tomorrow! See you all soon!

Wednesday

Greetings parents!

We just finished up our final day in Disney World, and what a day it was! We started off today with a lesson in our hotel. Our lesson was all about finding the mean (average number in a set), the median (the middle number in a set) and the mode (the most occuring number in a set). And since that all seemed so pointless on its own, we went to Disney World to really apply what we learned! Using the numbers from the days before, we found the mean, median, and mode of the number of times different rides were ridden. It makes math a lot more fun when you find a reason to use it in real life!

After we were done using math in the park, we were in for a real treat! We got to go see Finding Nemo: The Musical to see what a real stage performance is like. Even though you might think of Finding Nemo as a kiddie show, we all had a blast watching it!

We are all really excited for tomorrow. We will be having a lesson about space, then taking a trip to the Kennedy Space Center where we will tour the center and get to see real life space ships up close. We are all anxious to be in the same building where so many history making voyages were launched.

Hi Parents!!

What a day! Hope you're not missing your children too much, though we know they miss you, as well as having a great time in Florida.

In the morning, after a delicious complimentary breakfast at the hotel, we went to Disney: Magic Behind the Show: Improv and Team Work. This was a workshop that taught us a little about how to act and perform. Some of our students got to volunteer and be on stage! It was an excellent experience, and the students greatly enjoyed it. After we spent some time in Disney, enjoying the nice weather. We also rode on a few rides as we enjoyed our recess during the early afternoon. We also had a small lunch in the park.

Later in the afternoon we headed to our classroom at our hotel and had our day's lesson. Today was history, and we learned specifically about the Medieval Times of Spain, and a little about knights. We used a booklet we received from the Medieval Times dinning attraction we attended. We read a few selections from the booklet to learn about the cultures, customs, traditions, and legends of this time. We read some of the selections together as a class, some in small groups, and others to ourselves. We discussed what we read in each one either as a class or in our small groups. After the lesson, we hopped on our bus and went to the Kissimmee Castle at Medieval Times for dinner, to gain more information on this time. There we got to be emerged in the culture. This was a great experience! We got to watch a jousting tournament during dinner and our yellow knight won! The dinner was very good, and We also got to tour the Medieval Life Village. There we learned a lot about daily traditions and cultures of the time. Throughout the day the students were able to learn many new things about a different time period and the culture its people lived in.

Greetings!

What a day! We hope you aren't missing your students too much yet. Today, we started off the trip with a bang as we explored Disney's Ocean Discoveries workshop and learned plenty about different marine life! We teachers thought the sharks were pretty scary, but none of the students broke a sweat seeing them.

After learning about marine biology, we switched to a completely different topic as we went back to our hotel and did a lesson on geography. We talked about the ethnic and cultural differences between different countries and different continents, and even ethnic and cultural differences within countries. We ended up getting into a discussion about how living in Pennsylvania versus living in Florida creates cultural differences as we saw today while we were in Disney.

After our lesson, the students got to explore Epcot's countries tour. We saw plenty of different countries, including Italy and China, the latter being shown in the picture above. After we were done in Epcot, the students got to finally head back to the hotel for some well deserved R&R. Tomorrow we will be heading out to an improvisation workshop in Disney, followed by a history lesson, and an action packed dinner and show at Medieval Nights!

Florida Trip

In April, our class will be going Florida!!! Our school received a grant from the National Department of Education to take an educational trip and our class was lucky enough to be selected as participants! We're really excited about this trip and hope you are too! We have loads of educational fun planned for the students that we're sure everyone will enjoy. Details will be coming to you throughout the next few weeks.
